Women Program

Master Aloisio Silva, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, is the founder of Women Jiu-Jitsu being the first master to train the first black belt woman to become a world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.  The Silva Academy has a long history of training women in the area of self defense and also in training women on the competition level. 

The Silva Academy provides two programs for women, the Self-Defense program and the Jiu-Jitsu Program.


Self-Defense Program

A women’s ability to defend herself in a moment of crisis could mean the difference between escaping an assault or becoming a victim.  This program will increase your awareness and empower you with the knowledge of simple escape techniques.

The objective of the Silva’s Women Self-Defense Program is to empower you with the confidence that you can protect yourself at all times.  This is achieved by teaching you simple, yet effective escape techniques in a safe environment that allows you to practice your skill with male or female counterparts.  The purpose of practicing (sparring or rolling) with opponents of both sexes is to help eliminate the sense of total panic or fear that one often experiences during an assault. 

Aloisio Silva has developed a women’s self defense program that focuses on standing techniques and ground techniques that are designed to help a woman escape from an attacker.  These techniques are based on leverage and do not require strength as oppose to the common techniques of strikes and kicks often taught in other self-defense programs for women.  The reason we do not emphasize on the techniques of strikes and kicks is because it has been proven to be ineffective and can further instigates the aggressor.  Often times an aggressor will be bigger and stronger so the key component to being able to successfully defend yourself is to focus on your leverage so that you can be effective regardless of your age, size, strength or level of physical fitness.

In addition to the benefits that you will have in learning how to protect yourself or escape from an aggressor, Jiu-Jitsu is an amazing work out.  Many of our students have experienced strengthening of the body and weight loss as they learn the vital techniques of self-defense. 

The complete Women’s Self-Defense is taught in private and semi-private classes for better results. 

There is no guarantee that any self-defense training will fully ensure that a woman is able to protect and defend herself against an aggressor.  Yet, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that has been proven effective for nearly 100 years against other styles of martial arts.  With hard training a woman can make herself as safe as is possible.
